Day 5 was another clear morning, a great buffet lunch of Minas food where several of our hosts are originally from, the end of our busy work week, then a margarita at the rooftop bar in honor of my Margarita Friday friends back home!
This morning it was clear enough to see Christ the Redeemer from my hotel balcony, and a third different taxi route to…

Day 6 was a day a decade in the making! Simone found my Hogwarts Celebrations website and started emailing me back in 2005, and I finally met her in person TEN years later! She hadn’t played tourist in Rio herself since she lives in Sao Paulo, so she brought her daughter, her brother & his girlfriend for a fun weekend with me, including Christ the Redeemer at sunset…gorgeous!
I slept in this morning then met Simone and her gang for a stroll along the beach, some codfish balls and fried fish for…

Day 8 was my last day in Rio with my flight not until the evening, so the hotel kindly kept my luggage after late checkout, I strolled the couple blocks around the hotel for shopping, spent a little time at the hotel’s section of Copacabana Beach with a caipirinha, and even a fresh coco water at the hotel rooftop pool before I headed to the airport. It was so hot I had to swim laps in the pool to cool down!
