Tomorrow my grandma & I sail from Seattle to Alaska on the Celebrity Infinity! I fly to Seattle today, I am NOT bringing a computer, and my Treo service will be spotty I’m sure, so unless I break down & pay for some internet cafe time, I won’t be posting until I get back next Friday evening. I am really looking forward to this, not only to get away from everyday drudgery and spend quality time with my fun grandma, but the beautiful scenery and fun excursions!

Big Trekkie Kevin Smith has seen the JJ Abrams rough-cut of the new Star Trek movie, which he can’t really talk about but said this on the radio…

Smith: I saw a movie last night that I cannot talk about.

Host: Was it good?

Smith: It was phenomenal.

Host: Any stars, any break out stars, and do they trek?

Smith: The stars absolutely trek in this film. It is fantastic. Anybody who was worried doesn’t need to be worried–about this film I cannot talk about…It was in very capable hands. The director did a phenomenal job–the director and his crew. Top notch cast and the guy that plays the lead is an instant star. That dude is going to be so famous. He is so wonderful. He picked up a role that I would say is pretty challenging for someone to step into the shoes of, because it is a role that has been played before many times by the same guy.

Yes, I have been one of the worried ones, so this is reassuring since I know he’s a big fan & wouldn’t rave unless he felt the need…but I’ll still need to see it for myself to decide for sure on May 8th, hopefully midnight the evening of May 7th!

We’re back! , her husband, and I all had a great time in Yosemite this past weekend! I think I might make it an annual effort to grab at least one Yosemite Valley campsite for a summer weekend, then see who can come along by the time the weekend actually comes along.
