my new baby grand piano!

28 December 2005

I’m still moving, but it’s almost to the end, with the cleaning still do to at the old place before the walk-through with the landlords…but yesterday my new piano was delivered – hooray! It is a solid wood 1975 Chickering 5’2″ baby grand, made in America, sounds great with nice action but not too stiff, and I love its character, especially the curvy legs. It has a matching bench with curvy legs but my mom wanted a photo with my antique swivel piano stool for fun. :)

Me at my new baby grand piano in my new house!

Now back to moving…one of these days I can relax in my new home, but not quite yet! It’s really home now since I moved Kylie over last night…and my guess was correct…within the first hour she was already opening cabinets by herself! I think I’ll be buying more “kitty/kiddie”-proof latches very soon… :)

Merry Christmas!

I just got my personal e-card sent out which was two photos, so here they are for you all to see if you like… :)

I’m still moving into my new house, but at least the DSL is up as of last night…hooray! I’ll try to give a quick catch up…

Ricky Gervais Podcasts

13 December 2005

Robert had pointed me to the announcement a couple weeks ago in the Guardian online that Ricky Gervais was going to have a free podcast series, so I downloaded the first one last Monday & set it up in my iTunes to subscribe, but I hadn’t had the chance until this morning to listen to it yet.

HILARIOUS!!! …but in a very odd fashion, so if you didn’t like The Office or Extras you might not like this either, but I was cracking up my whole drive to work! The majority of the humor is Ricky & Stephen (Merchant, partners in crime for The Office and Extras) making fun of their podcast cohort & producer friend, Karl Pilkington. Karl is either a REALLY good dry-styled straight man with an overflowing spigot of drivel (most likely?), or he is really that clueless. Either way, wackiness ensues, and for a free laugh, why not? :)

In other news, for my new house, termite fumigation is done as of today, the chimney repair is scheduled for Friday, and hopefully electrical can be done Thursday the 22nd…woohoo!

UPDATE: Guess I’m not the only one who thinks it’s funny… :)

concert success!

12 December 2005

Whew! The Choral Project winter concerts are now over, to great success! This weekend is always hectic & stressful, even worse if you often are sick as well, which has often been me, but last year & this year I’ve been lucky that I’ve stayed well through these concerts at least. Staying well makes it so much easier, especially when you’re a member of the solo octet on something as artful and intricate as Bach!

Mission Santa Clara on Friday was packed to standing room only, which is about 800 people! Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz was pretty full, and St Benedicts in Hollister was almost as many in the audience as on stage, which is better than last year there. 😉 The SJ Mercury News music reviewer came to Friday’s concert and his review is out today. Behind the link here below is the full article text, since the article won’t stay online forever on the Merc’s website.
