minor rant

18 April 2005

The Brita water filter company is having a campaign for a $10 off coupon on their new faucet filter attachment. I haven’t seen these ads myself, but I just went to their site and saw it on the main page…but what I really do NOT get is how random people are getting MY britta.com email address and sending me email asking to send them coupons??? I do understand people who cannot spell, but if you can’t see the “you should have noticed I am NOT the water filter – click here for Brita.com” message that I have on my main page WITH the Brita logo for exactly those people, you’re just plain stupid. How someone could find my email address withOUT going to my website and still assume it would contact the water filter company would just be extra-mysterious. (I doubt this is a spam ploy because no return addresses are spoofed, and it would only be verifying my email address is valid, which is already on probably every spam list ever created by now so that is a moot point anyway.)

Seriously, it’s starting to be more than one email per day at this point, so getting more annoying…I found out a couple weeks ago on another water filter question that if I just ignored them, they kept nagging until I replied “I am not the water filter”…

*sigh*

There, I’m done…

fandom does crazy things…

Let’s not mention the irony of me finding out about this from WilWheaton.net’s RSS feed on LJ, but this is absolutely hilarious!

It seems that the Star Wars fans in LA who have been lining up so early for EpIII have found out the theatre they are at will NOT be showing the movie…but instead of moving the line to the theatre that WILL be showing it, they are keeping the line where it is “in protest” hoping they will force that theatre to screen EpIII…how crazy is that? hahahaha…

(Note: I have not seen EpI or EpII yet, probably won’t see EpIII anytime soon, and only saw Return of the Jedi in 1997. I don’t consider it a duel to the death or anything, and of course they can co-exist in peace and harmony, but for me it’s Star Trek over Star Wars any day…)

sucky day at work so let’s try cheering myself up…

I have been shopping recently for pieces for my Bellatrix costume for my July Hogwarts party. I found the lace-up black top on Thursday and the pants at a thriftstore on Saturday. The lace-up granny boots were in my closet already, along with my cloak and the black wig (I discovered I have SIX black wigs – haha!). Of course I’ll need more gothlike makeup, plus making my cheeks sunken from the years in Azkaban, and the pants will be tucked into the boots with the help of some elastic stirrups, but I think I have my costume set. That’s a minor load off my party mind at least.

As a bonus, if you’d like to see what the teal dress from the same shopping trip looks like, click here. I MUST find somewhere to wear this dress! :)

At lunch today I went to Marshalls here by work. My mission: look for a black bustier/corset-style top and black leather-like pants for my Bellatrix costume for this July. No pants like I wanted, but there was exactly one black lace-up printed brocade tank that fit great! Not only that, but while scanning through all the racks I found a couple other shirts, a new denim skirt (since the one I bought last summer that I love is too big now), some dark teal velvet jeans on clearance, some cute turquoise sandals that go with my new sweater I happened to be wearing today…and a floaty TEAL summer dress! 😀

I have no idea where I will wear this dress, but it is the exact most favorite shade of bright vivd teal that matches my car, iPod, phone, purse, etc…and there were only two, a size 4 and a size 8…and magically the size 8 fit (obviously wrong but who cares?)! So, $90 is a bit steep for Marshalls for one dress of this polyester floaty stuff, but since it is my absolutely favorite color and it fits so well, I splurged…all this plus the sun finally coming out at lunch as well has put a nice smile on my face…

Now I’ll have to figure out somewhere to wear this dress…it’s a bit too fancy just for casual going out…hmm…
