Travels in the United Kingdom: Fall 1997
Scotland
Of course, since we were so close, we had to tour Scotland, and the cheapest way to do that was camping overnight and driving around during the day. Unfortunately, I had come down with a bad chesty cough, so keeping myself warm in a tent in the Scottish Highlands proved a bit difficult, but we still definitely enjoyed ourselves! In just six days we saw Gretna, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glencoe, Glen Affric, Loch Ness, and we even made it all the way to Inverness (which means we drove the whole length of Loch Ness twice and still didn't see Nessie!). We drove all the way back from Glencoe to Didcot in one very long day, but I think just the scenery was worth it, even with my hacking cough...
This is the index of all the Scotland pages. If some locations seem slighted photo-wise, it's because even though Scotland is still beautiful to the naked eye when it's misty and overcast, even ISO 400 color film can't always deal with the contrast involved. You might just have to go and see the scenery for yourself, I guess...? :)
