The History of Cibo Cantabimus
Tracia, Stephanie, Britta and Jeff met while they were members of the UC Davis Chorus group on tour in Estonia and the USSR in June, 1990. They contined singing in choir together while they attended the university, some of them even after graduating. Louie was brought into the UC Davis Chorus in early 1991, and with him as the much-needed bass, the little "quartet" was born. Of course, their singing wasn't only limited to the official choir, since they often would burst out into song in various unorthodox places such as restaurants or living rooms or street corners. When Tracia met Doug, she soon taught him to sing so he could join in the fun. This "quartet" has kept going over the years, even as its members have continued with their lives by graduating from college, beginning careers and starting families.
Together, they have been Christmas caroling around neighborhoods, friends' houses, and various Christmas parties for many years. At the request of Tracia, the former choir conductor for the Woodland Christian Church, they have also sung as additional and regular members of the church choir, including performing in Tracia and Doug's wedding in February, 1996. Since they had gathered quite a varied repertoire over the years, they had started to try their voices at regional Renaissance Faires, with good reception. Britta, Tracia, Doug and Louie sang accompanied and a cappella for Stephanie's wedding in July, 1997, including a "choral toast" at the reception. All of them enjoy singing for the pure joy of it, and they hope to keep their "quartet" continuing whenever possible, no matter what the physical distances between them.
Special thanks...to all of our friends and families, and especially to everyone who has ever enjoyed our singing over the years, be it for Christmas parties, weddings, over a packet of Sweet & Low at Baker's Square, or standing by ourselves singing for hours on the patio in front of the Main Theatre on the UC Davis campus!
